Bangladesh Reports Six More Bird Flu Outbreaks

BANGLADESH - There have been six new outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 28 dated 13 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes the six latest outbreaks, which started between 30 January and 5 February. Four of the outbreaks were in the Dhaka region and two in Rangpur; five were on farms and one was in a village flock. In all, 14,277 birds were involved, 2,530 died and 11,747 have been destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 HPAI virus has been confirmed.
