Mainland Suspends Supply of Live Poultry to HK
CHINA - Due to an outbreak of bird flu in Hong Kong, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China has decided to suspend the supply of live poultry to Hong Kong for 21 days starting from 21 December.

Meanwhile, the GQASIQ will guarantee the supply and safety of frozen poultry meats to Hong Kong, the spokesman for the GQASIQ said at a press conference on 22 December.
On 20 December, Hong Kong found a chicken body with highly pathogenic bird flu virus H5N1. Then, the GQASIQ took measures immediately, including keeping close touch with the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau of Hong Kong to master the epidemic situation and adopting measures jointly to prevent and cope with the disease.
The GQASIQ requires that disease inspection organizations should strengthen inspections to prevent the virus from entering. They are also asked to properly carry out disease control, monitoring, disinfection, personnel protection and emergency response works in the registered farms supplying poultry to Hong Kong.
