The incidence was found in a flock of 100 laying hens on a farm in the Aurich region of North Rhine Westphalia.

Tests found that the contamination was 8.16 pg/g egg fat, where the limit is 5.0 pg/g egg fat.

The authorities in Lower Saxony said that the collection of eggs from the farm had been blocked and although there is no risk to consumers, the Lower Saxony government is investigating the cause of the contamination.
