The Western Sydney egg producer was fined and placed on a ‘name and shame’ register by the NSW Food Authority for wrongly labelling eggs as free range, when they were really barn-laid eggs.

AECL Managing Director James Kellaway said it was important that regulators such as the NSW Food Authority take action such as this.

“It is critical to AECL that consumers get what they pay for. It is so disappointing that a small minority of egg producers break the law when we believe the vast majority are law-abiding,” Mr Kellaway said.

“Egg producers who mislead or deceive consumers should feel the full force of the law,” he said.
