The equivalent product for weaned piglets (AviPlus S) was approved by the EU in 2010.

The year 2012 marks important milestones in Vetagro's history: it is the 30th anniversary of the company's foundation, and the successful EU authorisation of AviPlus P. AviPlus is a highly innovative third-generation encapsulated product for use in animal nutrition. The novelty of Vetagro's technology is supported by a number of patents granted to protect the intellectual property involved: EU Patent EP1391155 B1; US Patent 7,258,880, Canadian Patent 2,433,484; International Patent WO2009/019255 A1; with more patents pending.

AviPlus is the natural heir to other Vetagro best selling products, such as Tetracid® (for swine) and Galliacid® (for poultry), used all over the world.

Andrea Piva, Vetagro's president, commented: “We are proud to add AviPlus P to our portfolio and are excited about its prospects in the poultry industry. This important achievement is the result of Vetagro's attention to innovation and research since its foundation.

"At Vetagro, we reinvest 100 per cent of our earnings back into the company. This commitment enables us to support research that gives rise to successive and incremental improvements to our initial product solutions. All our products and services are supported by peer-reviewed scientific research, which uniquely differentiates our technical team from our competition.

The main driver of Vetagro is a deep and up-to-date knowledge of animal metabolism and physiology."
