International Egg Awards: Winners Announced

UK - At the recent IEC London 2012 Conference, six International Egg Awards were presented for outstanding contributions to the egg industry worldwide.

Mongolian-based NVT Company was awarded the 2012 Golden Egg Award for Marketing Eggsellence during the Gala Dinner at the IEC London 2012 Conference, in recognition of its excellent marketing strategy.

NVT Company gave details about how it now envisages the Mongolian egg trade reaching 19,873.20 tonnes by 2020, which given the original figure in 2000 of 1,404.00 tonnes, is a huge increase and compliment to the firm's marketing strategy.

Noble Foods of the UK was awarded the 2012 Crystal Egg Award for its outstanding commitment to Corporate and Social Responsibility.

The International Person of the Year 2012 (Denis Wellstead Award) was presented to Mr Akita.

Eurovo was recognised as the 2012 EPI Clive Frampton Egg Products Company of the year. Special recognition was also given to Balticovo and Lodewijckx for their contribution to Egg Processing.

The award is named in honour of Clive Frampton, who passed away in March 2012.

Peter Kemp, OBE, was presented with an IEC Honorary Life Member Award. He was the owner and managing director of Yorkshire Egg Producers from 1970, marketing eggs under the Goldenlay Brand.

Aled Griffiths, OBE, was presented with an IEC Honorary Life Member Award. He served as Chairman of the NFU Poultry Committee in London; was the Founding Chairman of the British Egg Industry Council; and Vice President of COPA-COGECA Poultry Working Group in Brussels.

Mr Griffiths was awarded an OBE at Buckingham Palace for service to the poultry industry in UK and Europe, and also received Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society of England 'Award for Excellence in Practical Farming' in recognition of his commitment to innovation and sustainable stewardship of his land and farming business.
