IPPE: New US Poultry and Egg Association Chairman

US - James Adams of Wenger Feeds in Rheems, Pennsylvania, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of US Poultry & Egg Association (USPoultry). The board meeting was held during the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2013 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE).

2013 chairman of US Poultry & Egg Association, James Adams (right)was presented with the traditional 'working man's gavel' by outgoing chairman, Mark Waller of Ingram Farms.

Mr Adams previously served as vice chairman. Mr Adams was presented with the time-honoured 'working man's gavel' by 2012 chairman, Mark Waller. A native of Pennsylvania, he received his BS in poultry technology and management and a Masters in Business Administration, both from Penn State University. Mr Adams joined Wenger Feeds in 1980 and has worked in a variety of responsibilities in egg production, feed manufacturing, transportation, purchasing, and sales and marketing. He is currently president and CEO of Wenger Feeds. He has served on the USPoultry board of directors since 2002.

Vice Chairman

Elton Maddox of Wayne Farms, Oakwood, Georgia, is the new vice chairman. A native of Georgia, he received his BS in engineering from the University of Georgia. Mr Maddox joined Wayne Farms in 1974 and has worked in a number of management positions within the company. He is currently president and CEO of Wayne Farms. In addition, he is a past chairman of the National Chicken Council and the Georgia Improvement Association and a past president of the Georgia Poultry Federation and the Georgia Poultry Processors Federation.

Treasurer

Sherman Miller of Cal-Maine Foods in Jackson, Mississippi, was named treasurer. A native of Mississippi, he received his BS in poultry science from Mississippi State University. Mr Miller joined Cal-Maine Foods in 1997 where he worked in a variety of positions. He is currently chief operating officer for Cal-Maine Foods.

Secretary

Paul Hill, West Liberty Foods, West Liberty, IA, was named secretary. A native of Iowa, he received his BA in economics from St. Olaf College. He was instrumental in the founding of West Liberty Foods, a farmer-owned company, in 1996. He is currently chairman of West Liberty Foods, as well as president of Circle Hill Farms. In addition, he is a past chairman of the National Turkey Federation.

Immediate Past Chairman

Mark Waller of Ingram Farms in Cullman, Alabama, is immediate past chairman. Mr Waller has a BS degree in poultry science at Mississippi State University. Prior to joining Ingram Farms in 1998, he was with Tyson Foods for 19 years, serving as plant manager and complex manager. Mr Waller is now sales and processing director for Ingram Farms. He is a past president of the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association.
