More Positive Bird Flu Virus Tests in Guangdong

CHINA - Samples at two live bird markets and on one farm in Guangdong province tested positive for the low-pathogenic H7N9 avian flu virus in the second week of March.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 15 dated 21 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

One sample taken from live birds at each of two markets in Guangzhou on 8 March tested positive for the virus.

On 14 March, four samples of the 90 taken at a poultry farm with more than 80,000 birds in Zhuhai tested positive for the H7N9 virus. No clinical signs had been observed. All birds have been destroyed.
