Aviagen to Renovate Elkmont Hatchery

US - Federal money will help Aviagen expand and add jobs in Elkmont, Alabama.

Governor Robert Bentley has awarded a $200,000 federal grant to Aviagen in Elkmont company this week that will allow for expansion and enable the business to hire 25 full-time employees, reports Athens News Courier.

The company also expects the area to benefit from as many as 35 new indirect support jobs.

The Community Development Block Grant, awarded to the town of Elkmont, will fund infrastructure improvements required for Aviagen Broiler Breeders to begin $8-million renovations at two hatchery sites in Elkmont, according to officials in Montgomery.
