Advice to All Poultry Owners in Bird Flu Control Zones
UK - The National Farmers Union offers important guidance for farmers in the avian influenza zone regarding biosecurity and poultry movements.

By: Are you a livestock farmer located within the 3-km or 10-km Protection/Surveillance zones established in response to the avian flu case at Nafferton? Do you have any poultry on farm – even one pet hen?
If the answer to both questions is 'Yes', you are currently subject to movement restrictions for all poultry and mammals including cattle, sheep, pigs and horses.
Currently, the only movements of mammals being authorised under these circumstances, under licence, are direct to slaughter. There are currently no movements to live.
Licences can be applied for from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) as set out below:
- Licence applications can be downloaded from the APHA web site
- You will need to return the application (the EXD100 form) to email LDCC-North-ActivityMng&Liaison-Licensing&[email protected] or fax to 01905 768649 (Worcester APHA Office)
- Poultry on site will need to be inspected by a private vet within 24 hours of the movement taking place.
