Chicken Meat Production Rises in Russia, Eggs Stable
RUSSIA - New figures indicate that for the first 11 months of this year, Russian poultry meat production has increased more than seven per cent, while total egg output is unchanged.The Russian Ministry of Agriculture conducts a comprehensive analysis of state statistical reporting data in the course of implementation of the State Programme for Agricultural Development and Regulation of Agricultural Products, Raw Materials and Food Markets for 2013–2020 in terms of livestock breeding development measures in Russia.
According to Cherkizovo Group, during the first 11 months of this year, production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in agricultural enterprises totalled 7.9 million tonnes live weight, which exceeded the level last year by 7.6 per cent.
This included 12.4 per cent increase in production of pigs for slaughter in liveweight, 3.8 per cent for sheep and goats, and 7.2 per cent for poultry. However, production of cattle for slaughter in live weight decreased by 3.2 per cent.
Milk production in agricultural enterprises for the period from January to November totalled 13.2 million tonnes or 102.2 per cent of that figure for the same period last year. Milk yield per cow in agricultural enterprises totalled 4,950kg, which is 357kg or 7.8 per cent more than in 2013.
Egg production in agricultural enterprises during the 11 months remained at almost the same level as last year at 28.9 billion eggs. The average egg production per hen in agricultural enterprises increased by four eggs to 282.
The number of cattle in agricultural enterprises at early December of this year amounted to 8.5 million heads, or 97 per cent of the last year figure.
