Brazilian Agriculture Exported $6.77 Billion in December

BRAZIL - Brazilian agriculture exported $6.77 billion in December. Between January and December 2014, the amount reached was $96.75 billion.

Brazilian agribusiness exports reached the figure of $6.77 billion in December 2014, representing an increase of 5.9 per cent compared to the same month of 2013, when $6.39 billion worth of exports were recorded.

According to a statement from the Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture of International Relations, Livestock and Supply, vegetable products were the main contributors for the income growth.

In December last year, foreign sales were led by the meat industry, which totaled $1.46 billion, a 3.8 per cent increase in export value.

Chicken was the most exported item, with $653 million, an increase of 5.9 per cent.

Beef acme second with exports totaling $636 million, up 2.9 per cent.

Pork came third, growing by 5.3 per cent, with $105 million in revenue.
