Industry Leaders Receive USPOULTRY Lamplighter Award

US - IPPE: – US Poultry & Egg Association presented the organization’s annual Lamplighter Award to three individuals at the International Poultry Expo, part of the 2015 International Production & Processing Expo.

The award pays tribute to individuals for “sustained and exemplary service” to the poultry and egg industry. This year’s honorees are:

James Adams, Wenger Feeds – James received his BS in Poultry Technology and Management and a MBA, both from Penn State University. He joined Wenger Feeds in 1980 and worked in a variety of responsibilities in egg production, feed manufacturing, transportation, purchasing, and sales and marketing. He is currently president and CEO of Wenger Feeds. He has served on the USPOULTRY board of directors since 2002 and as chairman in 2013.

Jay Houchin, Farbest Farms – Jay received his BS in Food Science from Purdue University. He worked at Swift & Co. and Wabash Valley Produce before joining Farbest Farms in 1997 where he is live production manager. He has served on the USPOULTRY board of directors since 2003 and has served on several committees on behalf of USPOULTRY throughout the years.

Dr. Greg Rosales, Aviagen – Greg received his DVM from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1979, his M.S. from the University of Georgia in 1983, and his Ph.D. in Veterinary Medical Microbiology in 1988, also from the University of Georgia.

He then served as director of technical services for Indian River International in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 1991, he joined Ross Breeders, now Aviagen, and served as a staff veterinarian, director of veterinary services and since 1997, as vice president of veterinary services. Greg has long been an enthusiastic supporter of USPOULTRY programs and was an active member of the USPOULTRY Foundation Research Advisory Committee for eight years.

“We value and sincerely appreciate the commitment and support of this year’s Lamplighter Award winners,” said 2014 USPOULTRY chairman Elton Maddox, Wayne Farms, Oakwood, Ga.

“They have enthusiastically dedicated themselves to contributing to the industry, and we value their support and service.”
