Aidan O’Driscoll replaces Tom Moran who has completed ten years as Secretary General.

Minister Simon Coveney said: "I am delighted that Aidan O’Driscoll is the new Secretary General of my Department. I’ve worked with Aidan for nearly four years and have full confidence in him to provide the leadership, intelligence and ambition to deliver for Irish Agriculture, the food industry and the Marine sector into the future."

“This is an exciting time for the Agri-food sector with the abolition of quotas in April and prospects presented by new and emerging markets. There are significant opportunities and challenges ahead and I am confident that, under his leadership, the Department can capitalise on these opportunities.”

“I want to acknowledge the leadership of Tom Moran over the past ten years and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the Minister concluded.

In his most recent role as Assistant Secretary in the Department, Aidan O’Driscoll had responsibility for EU Affairs, Economics and Climate Change, and successfully steered the 2013 CAP negotiations.
