A cheque for $38,178 was presented to Professor David Caldwell, head of the department of poultry science at Texas A&M University, after Tyson gave the money to the US Poultry Foundation.

“We plan to strengthen existing recruiting programmes and identify new and creative methods for generating interest in poultry science among potential applicants,” said Professor Caldwell.

“The overarching goal of our academic programme is to recruit, retain and graduate the best and brightest students possible for long-term contributions to the commercial and allied industries.”
