Attendees were given presentations from world-renowned specialists in the field including Regional Veterinarian Dr Pavel Shkarlat, Aviagen Laboratory Managers, Dr Kara Friel and Dr Mehmet Uvey, with support from Aviagen Consultant Microbiologist, Colin Russell.

The focus was on best practices and the most recent advancements in lab techniques to help report the possibilities of vertically transmitted diseases within poultry flocks. Techniques included; case studies, interactive tutorials, team activities and bench practical work.

Pavel Shkarlat commented: “This training is part of a series of events we are holding for Aviagen Grand Parent customers and regional key Parent Stock customers across Turkey, the Middle East and Africa. We want to ensure all Aviagen distributors’ laboratories are performing to the highest standard and will be arranging further training to share the most up to date knowledge and ensure highest health status of our product.

“Often these sessions are about ‘training the trainers’. In effect, Aviagen distributors around the globe can reach an Aviagen Global standard of testing and reporting and help improve the quality of information on to their own PS customers. It is a powerful method of training and Aviagen encourage the sharing of knowledge as much as possible.”

The Aviagen Anadolu Lab is certified to ISO 17025 standards. Internationally recognised for quality and accuracy, the lab delivers high quality training to decrease the risk of many diseases and problems which frequent poultry production facilities around the world, if proper testing and procedures are not put in place.

Commenting on the lab training, Mohanned Kedada from Pure Breed, Saudi Arabia said:
“The lab training offers a huge support for Ross GP Distributors and ensures the health status and superior product quality in the TMEA region. It helps to promote intra trade between distributors and ensures security of supply for the region.”
