Low Pathogenic Avian Flu Outbreak in South Africa

SOUTH AFRICA - There have been three outbreaks of low pathogenic avian influenza, of the H5N2 serotype, in South Africa.

The cases occurred on three commercial ostrich farms.

270 cases occurred in a total population of 3339 susceptible animals.

In response to the outbreak, movement controls and quarantines have been put in place.
