TAIWAN - There have been three more outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Taiwan.

The outbreaks were of the H5N2 serotype.

They occurred on three farms, one holding chickens, one with turkeys and one with geese.

Out of 25,640 susceptible birds across the three farms, there were 5527 cases. All the infected birds died from the disease.

The remaining 20,113 birds were destroyed to prevent the disease spreading.

These farms have been put under movement restriction. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted after stamping out operation.

Surrounding poultry farms within a 3 km radius of the infected farms are under intensified surveillance for 3 months.

The farms are located in Changhua County, Yunlin County and Kaohsiung City.
