There were 25 deaths in birds across the three backyard outbreaks.

The cases occurred in flocks in Kgalagadi, South East and Central regions.

A huge vaccination programme is under way across the country, to try and halt the disease which has been spreading since the beginning of 2014. The outbreaks are thought to have begun after contact between domesticated and wild birds.

Over 88,500 birds have been vaccinated so far in the prevention efforts.

Epidemiological investigations are continuing.
