More Avian Flu Hits Poultry Farms in Taiwan

TAIWAN - There have been five more outbreaks of H5N2 highly pathogenic avian influenza in Taiwan.

The outbreaks occurred in Yunlin, Changhua and Pingtung county. Three duck farms, one chicken farm and one abattoir were the affected premises. The duck farms were found to be infected following trace-back investigations from the abattoir.

Culling, disinfection and intensified surveillance are all in operation to try and prevent the disease spreading.
