More Bird Flu Reported in Nigeria

NIGERIA - Twelve more outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been reported in Nigeria.

The outbreaks all happened in the Kano region and were of the H5N1 strain.

They affected layers, on some farm and some backyard holdings.

Over 600 birds died and 21,623 were destroyed as a result of the outbreaks.
