The event supported by most of the major UK poultry producers takes place at John Bidwell’s shooting grounds, High Lodge, near Darsham, on Wednesday July 20. As usual, there will be competitions for individual and team trophies.

This year it will be a full day event. There will be an 80-bird individual competition on a range of the testing sporting stands at High Lodge. In addition, there will be a series of multi-bird flushes for teams of four.

A trophy will be awarded for the individual competition and the Cobb Charity Shield for the team event. The entry fee will be £50 for the whole day.

“Individuals will get a lot of shooting for their entry fee and with our sponsorship of the event Papworth Hospital will receive a significant donation for their very worthy and important causes,” said organiser John Vincent, of Cobb Europe. “As well as the competition, John Bidwell will entertain us all with one of his world famous demonstrations of shooting prowess.”

At the end of the day, following the awarding of trophies, there will be a raffle draw for prizes generously donated by a range of members of the wider poultry industry.

Entries should be made emailed to [email protected] or by telephone on 01206 835835.

  • Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire is one of the largest specialist cardiothoracic hospitals in Europe. Its charity’s role is to bridge the gap between NHS funding and the reality of providing such a high provision of care.
  • Cobb is the world’s oldest poultry breeding company founded in Massachusetts, USA, in 1916. The company introduced its breeding stock to the UK in the 1960s and the world’s most popular broiler breeder, the Cobb 500, has its origins in a pedigree breeding programme based in Essex for many years.
