ELPHA was formed in 2015 by the European Hatcheries in AEH, the European Breeders in EPB and the European exporters of hatching eggs and day old chicks in EPEXA.

The new President, Dr Graeme Dear, presented to the members his ideas and plans for the role of ELPHA in the promotion and defence of the interests of the live poultry and hatching egg sector.

The ELPHA members will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of ELPHA by active participation in 5 different working groups, addressing issues related to breeding, poultry health, poultry welfare, sustainability and international trade.

"To keep our ‘licence’ to produce we need to be successful by producing in a sustainable way with respect for the health and welfare of our poultry and by responding to the demand of consumers and society while at the same time achieving an acceptable profit," Dr Dear said.
