They said the average price of eggs has not risen much in the last three years, The Hindu Business Line reports.

There has been a sudden increase in the price of eggs across the country, with retail prices ruling in the range of Rs. 6 to Rs. 7 an egg in different parts in the last three weeks.

Telangana Finance and Planning Minister, Eatala Rajender, said the poultry industry would make money if it achieved an average price of Rs. 4 for the financial year 2017-18.

He said the abnormal price increase was only a temporary phenomenon. Poultry prices were largely volatile, denying poultry farmers assured income.

He was addressing the 11th edition of Poultry India 2017 in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
