Russia confirms cases of highly pathogenic bird flu on a farm

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has reported an outbreak of H5N8 bird flu on a farm in Western Russia.

According to reporting in Reuters, the OIE reported the outbreak on 27 October.

The outbreak is in the Kostromskaya region and has killed more than 14,000 birds. Russia’s agriculture ministry says that 283,000 birds have been culled in order to curb the spread of the disease.
