South Korea records another bird flu case

South Korea’s poultry farms have recorded 107 bird flu cases as another outbreak of H5N8 avian influenza was recorded in South Jeolla province.

Reporting in the Korea Herald explains that the latest case of H5N8 bird flu was identified on a duck farm in Jangheung, South Jeolla province. Cases of bird flu are still being recorded in wild birds.

Since the virus arrived in South Korea in November of 2020, animal health authorities have culled over 29 million poultry to prevent the disease from spreading. The Korea Herald also reports that average consumer prices for eggs have increased by 44% when compared to the same period in 2020.
