Average hatchability for chicks hatched during the week in the US was 79.7 percent, reported the United States Department of Agriculture. Average hatchability is calculated by dividing chicks hatched during the week by eggs set three weeks earlier.

Broiler growers in the US weekly program placed 182 million chicks for meat production during the week ending 13 November 2021, up 4% from a year ago. Cumulative placements from the week ending
9 January 2021 through 13 November 2021 for the US were 8.34 billion. Cumulative placements were up slightly from the same period a year earlier.
