According to the US Poultry and Egg Export Council, the US poultry and egg industry set records for exports in markets around the world in 2021, a year that proved to be one of the best ever despite significant global shipping challenges.

Total table egg exports hit an all-time high while broiler exports reached record numbers in several key markets and narrowly missed setting a record for total exports. That feat surely would have been accomplished if not for problems brought on by congested ports and pervasive logistics issues.

Overall, US broiler and egg exports registered gains in both volume and value last year, while turkey exports increased in value, according to new trade data released by USDA Foreign Agricultural Service.

US broiler exports to Mexico, Cuba, Philippines, and Guatemala in 2021 recorded all-time highs in both volume and value, while exports to China during the period set a record in value. Meanwhile, strength in South Korea, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Canada propelled egg exports. T

able egg exports in 2021 reached an all-time high of 198.0 million dozen valued at $202.5 million. Egg exports to South Korea set a record high in both volume and value. US turkey export value in 2021 increased by 14.0 percent from 2020. Turkey export volume, despite supply tightness, increased notably for some markets including Mexico, Benin, and South Africa. And exports to El Salvador set a record.
