Three cases of avian influenza were detected on Minnesota turkey meat farms Friday, according to the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The cases follow 12 cases, reported earlier in the week between 19-21 April. All cases involved turkey meat farms and impacted nearly half a million meat turkeys.

Authorities reported a new case in Otter Tail, which impacted 27,300 turkeys, a case in Swift, which impacted 127,400 turkeys, and a case in Yellow Medicine, which involved 46,000 turkeys.

A commercial broiler farm in Pennsylvania confirmed an outbreak of avian influenza as well. Over 50,000 birds were impacted.
