Utah layer farm reports avian influenza outbreak

The outbreak involved 1.4 million table egg layers

According to the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), a Utah-based commercial egg layer farm tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The outbreak involved 1.4 million layers.

Two further outbreaks were reported for 25 April, one in a commercial turkey flock in Minnesota and another in a backyard flock in Michigan.

To date, birds in 239 flocks have been tested and confirmed for HPAI. Of those, 157 are commercial flocks. A total of 29 states have been affected, and 33.07 million birds have been impacted.
