According to an article in Arabian Business, Saudi Arabia’s minister of agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli announced a new plan to enhance self-sufficiency by boosting poultry meat to 80% by 2025.

The aim of the funding is to increase production capacity to 1.3 million tons of broiler meat annually, said the article.

Saudi Arabia's minister of agriculture said that companies that wish to expand will receive 70% of the investment cost where advanced technology is used.

Currently, Saudi Arabia is 68% self sufficient in poultry meat production. This is up from 45% in 2016.
