Avian influenza continues to hammer US commercial turkey production

Three new cases were reported last week

According to reports from USDA-APHIS, three new avian influenza outbreaks on commercial turkey meat operations were reported last week. 

A case was reported on a commercial operation in Sanpete, Utah on October 11 where 47,200 turkeys were impacted.

On the same day, a commercial turkey operation in Beadle, South Dakota reported an avian influenza outbreak that affected 71,400 birds.

The following day, a third operation, this time in Stanislaus, California, reported a case of avian influenza in commercial turkeys. Some 54,900 turkeys were affected.

Utah has already reported several cases this autumn, all on commercial turkey operations in Sanpete.
