South Korea confirms avian influenza case in south

According to a report from YonHap news agency, South Korea confirmed a new case of avian influenza on a duck farm in a southern region.

The case of highly pathogenic avian influenza strain H5N1 was confirmed on a farm in Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province. This is the fourth confirmed infection in the province this winter, according to the report. 

The report added that 15,000 ducks were culled to prevent spread of the virus. Additionally, local authorities have imposed restrictions on vehicle movement in the affected area.
