Hungary reports H5N1 avian influenza outbreak

Hungary has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus at a turkey farm, Reuters reported, citing the National Food Chain Safety Office on Wednesday.

Authorities said they had slaughtered about 39,000 turkeys on the farm where the virus was detected. The outbreak was reported in the county of Somogy.
