International Layer Distribution GmbH, a subsidiary of the German-based EW Group GmbH, and Couvoir Ovo Inc, Wickham, QC, acquired a majority stake in Archer’s Poultry Farm Ltd., with the Archer family remaining shareholders in the company.

Archer’s Poultry Farm is a distribution company selling Lohmann Breeders brand layer chicks, pullets, and feed in Ontario.

This year marks the 78th anniversary of Archer’s Poultry in the Canadian hatchery industry. Founded by Cecil and Florence Archer, the Archer family has successfully developed the company over the years. Gordon and Susan, and Doug and Iris Archer, ran the farm with passion and built a new hatchery in the 1960s along with a feed mill. 

The third generation of the Archer family, Kim, Sherry, John, and Stuart have continued to support this proud family legacy. Under Stuart’s time as President, a new state-of-the-art hatchery was built in 2016. 

• Stuart will take on a consulting role in the company going forward. 
• Greg Brown, long-term Sales and Service Manager, will assume the role of General Manager.
