Brazil: bird flu in wild birds poses no trade risk

Minister says most suspected cases are in wildlife, small flocks

Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro told a Senate hearing on Tuesday the confirmation of a bird flu outbreak in wild animals in Minas Gerais state does not have any commercial impact, reported Reuters

The country is currently investigating some 11 potential outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian flu, most of which are among subsistence flocks and wildlife.
