The US composite whole broiler price averaged 118.93 cents per pound in August, down 12.5 cents month over month, and 5.5 cents below the average price from August 2024, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook for September.

After a steep decline in weekly prices from late July through early August, prices have levelled off in recent weeks.

In the first week of September, the national composite price averaged 118.6 cents per pound, up 0.8 cents from the previous week. Reflecting the recent seasonal price trend, as well as increased production expectations, projected quarterly average prices for the third and fourth quarters were each adjusted down 5 cents to 123 and 125 cents per pound, respectively.

The projected average price for 2026 was also adjusted downward to 131 cents per pound.
