Brazil exported 459,000 tonnes of fresh and processed chicken meat in January, a record for the month and up 3.6% from 443,000 tonnes a year earlier, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).

Export revenue reached US$874.2 million, up 5.8% from US$826.4 million in January 2025, also marking a record for the month.

The United Arab Emirates remained the leading destination, importing 44,300 tonnes in January, a 14% increase from the same period last year.

South Africa followed with 36,800 tonnes, up 34%, while Saudi Arabia imported 33,500 tonnes, an increase of 5%. China also imported 33,500 tonnes, down 25% from January 2025.

South Korea received 16,200 tonnes, up 10%, and Singapore imported 14,100 tonnes, unchanged from last year. Exports to Chile rose 51% to 11,800 tonnes.

Paraná remained the top exporting state, shipping 187,700 tonnes in January, up 3.9%. Santa Catarina exported 103,100 tonnes, an increase of 9.3%, followed by Rio Grande do Sul with 58,700 tonnes, up 0.75%. São

Paulo shipped 26,700 tonnes, up 2%, and Goiás exported 25,600 tonnes, up 9.5%.

ABPA president Ricardo Santin said the record performance, with growth in nearly all major destinations during a typically slower demand period, points to positive prospects for 2026. He cited sustained growth in markets including the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, European Union countries and parts of Asia with strong demand.
