Canadian egg output hits record highs in late 2025
FCC cites strong demand, slowing population growth
Egg production increased sharply in the second half of 2025 as per capita consumption continued to rise, according to Farm Credit Canada.
In the third quarter of 2025, 5.54 dozen eggs per person were available for consumption, up from 5.00 dozen in the third quarter of 2024.
Whole egg stocks in December 2025 totalled 432 metric tonnes, nearly twice the recent average for that month.
FCC said two opposing forces may shape early 2026 production: high egg availability and potential production losses from avian influenza affecting the national layer flock.
Despite uncertainty early in the year, FCC said the longer-term outlook for egg consumption and production remains positive, supported by strong demand for affordable protein.
