EU chicken consumption set to rise in 2026
Retail, food service demand lift poultry intake 1.4%
EU domestic consumption of chicken meat is expected to increase by 1.4% in CY 2026 as both
retail sales and consumption in the HRI sector will continue to increase, according to a recent USDA Foreign Agricultural Service report.
Over the longer term, chicken meat consumption is expected to continue growing as consumer preferences continue to favour chicken over other animal protein sources. Chicken meat is generally more affordable than other meats.
European consumers also generally consider chicken meat to be healthier, more versatile, and easier to prepare.
