The British Free Range Egg Producers Association (BFREPA) has launched its new Layer Academy, with board director Lucy Hinch and Greg Marsh of ForFarmers outlining plans for the initiative at the association's forum event, according to a press release from the association

The academy, sponsored by ForFarmers UK, is designed to support ambitious people working in the free range egg sector, including producers, flock managers, pullet rearers, and allied industry professionals.

Hinch described the academy as an opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge, build industry connections, and develop a wider understanding of the egg supply chain.

Over 12 months, members will take part in industry visits and events across the UK, covering all stages of production from hatcheries and feed mills through to packing centres and retail. A European study tour is also being explored.

The programme will focus on leadership, networking, and professional development, with participants expected to meet producers, nutritionists, retailers, and other key industry figures.

Organisers said the academy is designed to help develop the next generation of leaders within the free range egg sector.
