Brazil chicken prices in São Paulo hit five-month high
Corn, soybean meal declines boost producer margins in May
Live chicken prices in São Paulo state climbed significantly in May, reversing a six-month decline, according to Cepea.
The average price reached BRL 5.07/kg (roughly USD 0.92/kg) for the month, up 13.8% from April.
The gain came as falling corn and soybean meal costs improved producers' purchasing power to its strongest level since December. The sector had adjusted production to meet demand following a period of sluggish sales.
