The California Poultry Federation (CPF) has joined with other national farm organizations in urging Congress to reject the inclusion of user fees in any Congressional budget proposal.

“We are very supportive of efforts by the National Chicken Council (NCC) and other animal ag groups that oppose these user fees,” said CPF president Bill Mattos. The NCC has signed onto a letter stating, “Meat, poultry, and egg products inspection is a public health and safety program required by federal law and funded through tax dollars for over a century. These new food-safety taxes will be charged directly to the meat, poultry, and egg products sectors, who will be forced to pass this additional cost onto tax-paying consumers.”
