Print This Page Farmers Urged to Raise Hygiene Standards
GHANA - National Director of the Veterinary Services has urged the poultry industry to adopt improved hygiene practices to prevent the outbreak of avian flu and other poultry diseases.Dr Enock B. Koney, National Director of the Veterinary Services also advised farmers to ensure that rodents and wild birds do not enter their farms, reports Modern Ghana.
He added, "If you should adopt the practice of good hygiene on your farms seriously, you would have no reason to be worried about an outbreak of diseases."
Dr Koney made his remarks at the opening of a two-week Ghana Bio Security Surveillance and Outbreak Response Training of Trainers Workshop in Tamale on 7 July.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organised the programme to train participants in communication skills and disease control.
