This is based on information from the Economic Development Ministry on the distribution of the 25 per cent import quota on poultry meat, reports Interfax.

According to the document, importers were allocated 238,000 tonnes, which amounts to 25 per cent of the quota. Thus the total quota is 952,000 tonnes, down from 1,252,000 tonnes previously.

The US share in the distribution was 187,500 tonnes. Thus, its overall quota has been reduced to 750,000 tonnes from 931,500 tonnes.

Reductions in poultry imports from the US were discussed at a meeting between the Russian Poultry Meat Market Operators Association and the US Poultry and Egg Export Council held in Moscow in July. At that time, the 750,000-tonne quota was agreed.

The Economic Development Ministry also distributed 25 per cent of the beef and pork import quota.
