Vaccinations Hinder Farmers
QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA - The local egg association says some of the vaccinations it is required to give to poultry are unnecessary.The Queensland Egg Farmers Association is holding meetings across the state to discuss poultry vaccinations, which they say are hindering producers, reports ABC.
Association spokeswoman, Ivy Inwood, says producers are being forced to vaccinate chickens for diseases not present in Queensland.
Ms Inwood says the cost of the shots is putting a significant strain on smaller producers.
"It is still a cost to the grower," she said. "We've tried to make it simpler for the smaller grower so that he will do it.
"It's all right for the bigger grower that has to do other vaccinations, but the little grower doesn't do vaccinations like commercial growers.
"We just feel that the little people, if we want them to do it, we have to make it easier for them," Ms Inwood told ABC.
