Peru Reports New Outbreak of Newcastle Disease

PERU - One new case of Newcastle disease has been reported.

The veterinary authority sent Immediate Notification dated 25 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report refers to a single outbreak of the disease at Anexo Alto Mirador in Cajamarca state in the north of the country. The disease affected a village flock of 20 birds, of which 12 were affected, four died and eight were destroyed.

The last reported Newcastle disease outbreak in the country was in early December 2009.
