New Outbreak of H5N1 Bird Flu in North Viet Nam

VIET NAM - One more outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been reported in the north of the country.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 53 dated 7 June to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes one new outbreak, starting on 20 May, of HPAI among village poultry at Vu Le in Lang Son province in the north of the country. All 1,008 affected birds were destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
