The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification on 1 June 2012. The outbreak was first observed on 27 May, and confirmed on 30 of the same month.

Out of 1304 susceptible birds, 564 cases were reported. All 564 birds were found dead, and 740 were destroyed.

On 26 May 2012, after receiving information from Ministry of Health on a girl aged 13 living in Pring village who was reported dead and confirmed infected with H5N1, an investigation team from the National Veterinary Research Institute (NaVRI) of the Department of Animal Health and Production (DAHP) went to the village to investigate and take some samples from local chicken and ducks. Some samples were confirmed positive for HPAI H5N1.

The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.
