The disease can be very complex, involving a series of clinical or subclinical symptoms affecting both economic performance and animal welfare.

From an economic perspective, the figure produced by the industry regarding the cost of coccidiosis in poultry is more than 1 billion US dollars.

Coccidiostats have been used for a long time and, even applying a rotation strategy with different molecules, the risk of generating resistance is always present.

Given the consumer pressure to improve welfare and reduce use of antibiotics, maintaining intestinal health through preventing coccidiosis is becoming ever more important.
